Author Guidelines

Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts may be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or PDF format. Unless a journal specifies otherwise, manuscripts should not exceed 8,000 words—approximately 12 pages in the Avestia template—including figures, tables, and references.

The first page must include the manuscript title; each author’s full name and institutional affiliation; the full postal address of the corresponding author’s institution; and the corresponding author’s email address.

Authors must prepare submissions using the Manuscript Template (.docx). Compliance with the applicable journal scope and the required template is a condition of editorial consideration and acceptance.

Peer Review and Submission Process

Each submission is assessed for fit with the journal’s aims and scope, completeness, originality, and compliance with ethical and formatting requirements. Manuscripts that proceed are evaluated through single-blind peer review: reviewer identities are not disclosed to authors, while author identities are available to reviewers. The Editor-in-Chief or a designated editor makes the final decision based on the manuscript’s scholarly merit, reviewer reports, and the journal’s editorial criteria.

1. The manuscript is submitted through AMSS and screened by the editorial office for completeness, scope, formatting, originality, and potential ethical concerns.
2. A suitable manuscript is assigned to an editor and sent to independent reviewers with relevant subject expertise.
3. After the required reviews are received, the editor issues a decision: accept, revise, or reject.
4. When revision is invited, the authors must submit a revised manuscript together with a point-by-point response explaining how each reviewer and editor comment was addressed.
5. The revised manuscript may be returned to the original reviewers or assessed by the editor. Further revision may be requested before a final decision is made.
6. After acceptance, authors must provide an editable Word file. Avestia prepares proofs, and the corresponding author must review and approve them before publication.

Accepted articles are registered with a unique DOI and published in the current continuous annual volume after completion of all editorial and production requirements.

Originality and Plagiarism

Manuscripts must present original research or scholarly reviews and must not be published, accepted, or under consideration elsewhere. Authors must disclose and cite any closely related manuscripts, conference papers, preprints, or previously disseminated material. Suspected duplication or plagiarism identified before publication may result in rejection; concerns identified after publication are handled under Avestia’s correction and retraction policies.

Plagiarism includes presenting another person’s text, ideas, images, data, code, or results as one’s own without appropriate attribution. Avestia does not tolerate plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, inappropriate image or data manipulation, redundant publication, citation manipulation, or other forms of research or publication misconduct.

Avestia screens submissions with Plagiarism Checker X before peer review and may repeat screening before acceptance. Similarity reports support editorial assessment but are not treated as automatic proof of misconduct; any concern is reviewed in context.

Copyright

The corresponding author must submit a copyright form after acceptance and before publication. Under the form, authors retain copyright and authorize publication of the article under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License (CC BY 3.0).

Publication cannot proceed until the completed copyright form has been received.

Publishing Fees

All Avestia journals operate on an open-access model. No submission or peer-review fee is charged for manuscripts submitted for consideration.

Following acceptance, an article processing charge (APC) of CAD 900 applies to each article. Applicable taxes are added where required by law. The APC is non-refundable and supports editorial administration; peer-review management; copy-editing; typesetting and proof preparation; reference checking and linking; similarity screening; DOI registration; preparation and distribution of article metadata to relevant discovery and indexing services; digital preservation; and online hosting. Payment is requested only after editorial acceptance and does not influence the editorial decision.
